Default Best Armor I've Seen So Far!

Best armor I've seen so far is the armor picked up from Biorr. Save him from world 1 and then kill him in the nexus for his full armor. His armor is great. It has high defense in every area. I highly recommend killing him after you finish world 1 so he can help you throughout.

The armor has a high defense, but it also weighs a lot. For those pure tank characters who could care less about rolling it is great. However for those who would rather get out of the way it's about the worst armor there is. xD

IMHO it is the worst armor out there because it makes you both look fat and roll fat and be fat. In other words, you are super slow and will die super fast.

haha I was telling the truth anyways. It is not advisable to use it for those who dont have very high stamina.

It's great armor, if you understand how to play a role as a "tank". Than add a Large Axe and watch bosses stagger under your power attacks! Also, with good timing, you can take very little damage with the Shield!

Brushwood Set is the the strongest armor in the game, hands down.
It also has the highest weight so it's very possible to go over weight with it! e.g. weight= (50/40).
Another note about heavy armor is that it decreases stamina regeneration! If you read in the equipment, it says that too. Brushwood Set greatly decreases stamina regeneration!
Another note: You don't have to kill Biorr for it, you can get it another way!
In 1-1 at the start of the level there is a door to the left where the first Dredling will attack you, it only opens in Pure Black/White world tendency, there you'll find the Brushwood Set! So it's possible to get this equipment without having to kill Biorr.

Now my opinion about the best equipment in the game: Old King Doran's Set.
Reason why is that it's considered a light armor, but it has high defense compared to any light armor in the game, almost as good as the fluted armor but a little weaker.
The advantages of this armor is that it DOES NOT decrease stamina regeneration AT ALL, and it's not heavy, so it's easy to be able to roll fast wearing it if your Endurance is high enough.

Agrees. Besides once you get enough +'s following your NG the mobs will hit so hard you wearing your brushwood and me wearing my thief wont make a difference, you will still be 1 hit. If you plan to continue more than 2 or so play throughs you should consider learning to roll.

Totally agreed, it won't do any good. it will slow us down . as for me if continue with it, I'll never play again. I don't like to be fat and slow, (even it gives some protection). Faster is better

I hope you guys don't mind, I dropped into your discussion

I totally agree with you I acquired the Brushwood Armor, Helmet and Shield during the pure white tendency event before Xmas and tried to use it for a while and it really slowed me down! I went back to my leather armor that I got when I started since I'm Wanderer class. Just upped stats and have been rocking high dexterity. I may suit up the fluted armor I acquired in 3-1 to reduce bleeding risk in 4-1 presently

My favorite armor : Sage Freke's armor that he drops.

It's lightweight, and you look super awesome

I just picked up this armour last night! Doran was a nice enough guy and all but his armour looked sweet and he was already wounded so...

When you say light, it's not truly light, is it? You still move at the 'armoured' rate, in that you're at around 3/4 speed and you don't do the super-fast roll. I tried it on and my movement didn't seem to improve all that much.

After nearly completing the game I would say my favourite suits of armour are Yurt's Gloom Set and the Mirdan Set. (I do play something of a tank.) Gloom is a good all-round tank suit with fire, poison, and plague resistance. It's idea for Worlds 2 & 5. The Mirdan gives great physical defense and is ideal for Worlds 1, 3, & 4. I had to bump my Vitality to 20 and still can only carry 10 pounds worth of weapons but it's worth it.

Here's the thing with tanking, I don't think anyone who's written guides has really tried it out. It is a viable way to finish the game and provides benefits they may have overlooked. I heard about all kinds of enemies having one-shot-kill moves but those attack aren't that deadly with heavy armour. This became especially evident towards the end of the game. With Mirdan Set you can get hit full-force by Old King Doran, the Penetrator, Garl Vinland, and others and still have enough health to react.

I always wanted to go light and roll around more, but the damage I took was noticably more and I always ended up crawling back into a metal suit.

The movement rate depends on your character's equipment burden. Below 50%, your character moves just fine. Above 50% your character becomes encumbered. Old King's Armor is considered light because it has no stamina penalty. However it weighs 20 pounds, which means that with 40 endurance you can only use 14.5 pounds of weapons.

And the 1-shot capability is usually early-game, on specific enemies in NG+, or after several NG+'s. On my 1500 HP SL 171 character who uses a mix of Fluted, Gloom, Chain, and Three-Cornered Hat, a Red Eye Knight will kill me in a couple hits on NG+3. Its damage is actually on-par with Doran's.

Personally, I liked either Old King's armor or Binded Armor. If I'm going to be using heavier weapons, I'll go with Binded. Otherwise I get Old King's.

I also like Binded's looks more. Old King's armor looks like Burger King and the Statue of Liberty had a baby.
